Abstract


The purpose of this study was to observe the histopathologic and histochemic healing process of the bone injury in the experimental ricketic rats induced by rachitogenic diet No. 3143 which high in calcium but low in phosphorus and deficient in vit. D.
For this study, 27 Spraque-Dawley rats were divided into two groups ; 15 experimental and 12 control animal- groups. The experimental group were maintained rachitogenic diet and control group were maintained normal diet for experimental period. The experimental and control animal groups were anesthetized with Ketamine-HCl (d1-2-(o-chlorophenyl)-2-(methylamino) cyclohexanone hydrochloride, ketalar (R)) intramuscular injection and the bone injury on the tibia was made by No. 701 fissure bur with the rotary engine.
The experimental and control animal groups were sacrified on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, 14th, 21th, 28th experimental day respectively. All the specimens were fixed in 10% neutral formalin solution, decalcified in Plank Richlo solution, embedded in paraffin, and secti-
oned 6-8P in thickness. All the sectioned tissues were stained with hematoxyline-eosin, i an Gieson, and von Kossa stain methods.
The following results were obtained ;
1. Cellular organization was appeared on the 3rd day in the control group and van Gieson stain was revealed with a little reduced reaction in experimental group compared to control group.
2. Osteoid tissue in experimental group was more wider than control group on the 14th day.
3. Von Kossa stain was revealed with more positive reaction intensively from the 7th day in control group compared to experimental group.
4. In general, osteoid tissue was more increased and mineralization of bone trabeculae was delayed in experimental group.
